Man charged with impersonating a police officer

A man has been taken into custody for shoplifting and impersonating a police officer. 
 
On Dec. 30 at approximately 9 p.m., Prince George's County Police responded to a call at a Sears store on the 1000 block of Annapolis Mall Road. 
 
When the officers arrived, they spoke with store employees who had observed a man wearing a badge lanyard around his neck shoplift a printer cord worth $12.99. 
 
The suspect, Diamante Daqawn Scott of Washington D.C., was taken into custody. Scott was wearing a lanyard that displayed a Prince George's County Police uniform hat badge with a police patch underneath. There was a Metropolitan Police Department uniform hat badge on the reverse side of the lanyard.
