LANSDOWNE, Md. — Baltimore County Police investigated a shooting in Lansdowne on Thursday afternoon, and confirmed a juvenile was the victim.

Officers responded to Twin Circle Way, and found a juvenile who was wounded. The child was taken to an area hospital.

In a Thursday afternoon news briefing, police did release information on the child's condition.

"I was in my yard playing with my kids - I heard the gunshot, I grabbed my kids and ran inside," said Melissa Miller, a parent.

Miller described seeing the young victim carried out to first responders, as well as an ambulance, a firetruck, and about 30 police officers.

"It is scary," Miller added, "having to take your kids and rush inside yourself, and then finding out it was a baby in itself too, so that makes it a little heart wrenching.”

Police did not, at the time of a Thursday news conference, confirm the child's age, where the child suffered the wound, or how the shooting took place.

"We can say that at this time, we do believe this to be an isolated incident, and there is no threat to the community at this time," Det. Trae Corbin told reporters Thursday afternoon.
