PASADENA, Md. — A woman is in critical condition after being shot by police in Pasadena Thursday afternoon.

Anne Arundel County officers were called to a home in the 8600 block of Gambier Harbor for an armed woman threatening to take her own life.

As police arrived on scene, they got word of a cat being killed inside the home.

At some point the 61-year-old woman came outside, where she was met by officers.

She reportedly ran back into the home before returning a short time later with a handgun.

After refusing orders to drop the weapon, the woman allegedly raised it in the direction of officers forcing them to shoot.

Police say she was taken to Shock Trauma in critical condition.

No officers were injured. A gun was recovered at the scene, and a cat was discovered shot to death inside the home.

The involved officers have been identified as Corporal J. Glossner Jr., an 8-year veteran; Officer First Class M. Spates, a 4-year veteran; Officer C. Dixon, a 6-month veteran; and Corporal D. Holquist, an 18.5-year veteran.
