A bomb squad was called to investigate a suspicious suitcase at the Post Office on the 900 block of Fayette St.

The call for the suspicious package came in around 2:45 p.m.

Police at around 4:45 p.m. told us the call was "unfounded," and around the same time employees in the building got an initial 'all clear' to go back to work.

However, police were still limiting access to the area outside the post office at 4:45 p.m.

A WMAR-2 News viewer alerted us with a tip about the heavy police presence surrounding the building.

"Investigators determined that the suspicious package (abandoned suitcase) was not.. a threat to the public," said a spokesperson for BPD at 5 p.m.
