Local businesses offer livestreams and lessons to entertain kids

BALTIMORE — Staying in the house with kids can be tough during this quarantine, but thankfully businesses are doing what they can to help out.

Physical activities:

Child's Heart Yoga: If you are looking to be active from home, Child's Heart Yoga are doing a variety of classes for kids and families, like chair yoga. Stay tuned for videos on their Facebook page and website.

Rock Church Academy: If you are a first responder and looking for someone to watch your kids then Rock Church Academy is where you want to go. There they have learning care, electives, snacks and more. This service is only available for first responders.

Live Streams and Learning Tools:

Joni HeartSmiles Holifield: Here kids can be engaged virtually on Instagram through Success Session with 60-minute rap sessions & discussions from 10am - 3pm daily. Each session is hosted by a trusted mentor, leader, or special guest facilitator.

Maryland Science Center: Learn a new fun fact or do your own experiments at home by going through the Maryland Science Center's Facebook. Click here to make their Bubbling Cauldron Dough

Maryland Zoo: Get ready for some fun watching animals, the zoo has live streams running throughout the day! The live cams are available daily and you can even tune in at 10:30am or 3:30pm for the penguin feedings. Click here to see a list of their streams

National Aquarium: Send your kids undersea with live streams from the National Aquarium. The aquarium is offering three different ways you can entertain your kiddos!

  1. You can go on their website to watch live streams of the Blacktip Reef, Jellies Invasion, and Pacific Coral Reef exhibits.
  2. They are also trying to do special live stream broadcasts from inside the Aquarium (schedule is currently TBD, but will be announced on their activities page).
  3. Lastly, if you go to their website they have created a dedicated page called “At-Home Aquatic Activities”. These include word searches, coloring pages and more activities to do with the kids.

Port Discovery: If you need tips and tricks on what to do with your kids then hop over to Port Discovery's Facebook. They are posting helpful tips and articles daily and will also be doing a Facebook Livestream of Silly Goose & Val, this Saturday, March 21 at 1:00 PM.

Tristar Martial Arts- Westminster:They have moved all of their martial arts classes to virtual classes! They also are providing worksheets, challenges, and more!
