Happy National Drink Wine Day!
For wine enthusiasts, every day is Drink Wine Day, but we won't get into that. Let's just celebrate the fact that there is a day that gives us a legitimate reason to crack open our favorite bottle of wine, sip, and enjoy.
I reached out to Christopher Spann, the owner of the Wine Market in Locust Point, to get his recommendations on the best wines to drink on National Drink Wine Day. Here is what he suggested:
Bradford Mountain Zinfandel, Sonoma, California - great for sipping by the fire, full bodied with more tannic structure than some zins, but this spicy red still has the rich, ripe fruit you look for in a Zinfandel (price at Wine Market Bistro - $18.99)
Chateau Coupe Roses "Champ du Roy" Minervois Blanc, France - a tasty winter white, blend of grenache blanc, muscat and viognier with exotic aromatics, lush notes of white peach and marzipan (price at Wine Market Bistro - $16.99)
Durigutti Cabernet Franc, Mendoza, Argentina - a fantastic example of how complex franc can be, notes of cocoa, vanilla, coffee and pleasant balanced finish with zero rough edges (price at Wine Market Bistro - $26.99)
Cesari "Mara" Valpolicella Ripasso, Veneto, Italy - dark brooding fruit, notes of raisins and a rich, decadent mouth-feel (price at Wine Market Bistro - $19.99)
Of course, if you have a wine you love, make the time to drink up and enjoy! And while you're at it, tell Siobhan and I what it is so we can try it! Tweet us the name of your favorite wine @KnightfromABC2 or @TheRealSiobhanB
