WMAR-2 News has some new neighbors!
The Charmery, a well-known ice cream shop in Hampden, is expanding its brand into Baltimore County by opening a second location at 6807 York Road in Towson. Right down the street from us!
The grand opening is May 26 at noon.
"We love what we do so much and we're having so much fun doing it and the opportunity to serve more people and hire more people was too much to resist," said David Alima, co-owner of The Charmery.
David's wife Laura says it was almost love at first sight when they saw the building, located just a few stores down from Ayd Hardware.
"When we saw this space, it just felt like the right fit," Laura said. "There was something about it that just felt like the right next step for the Charmery."
Aside from the space itself, you'll notice a couple of changes from the main shop in Hampden. The flavors are put into categories: "always" "sometimes" "seasonal" and "experimental." When we went to visit the store, David had a "queso frito" flavor on the experimental board. I won't lie, I was intrigued.
They are also debuting the "Rocky York Road" sundae specifically for this location, which is chocolate ice cream, peanuts and marshmallow sauce.
And as if they didn't have enough on their plate, the Alimas are also working on opening their new space at Union Collective.
"It has been such an inspiration seeing these other businesses go for it and build their upon their dreams," they said.
They've got a lot going on and the Alimas are excited to be sharing their ice cream in more neighborhoods.
"We say happiness through ice cream and its also trying to build the community up through ice cream and hiring through ice cream and all of these beautiful things through ice cream."
