ChoiceOne Urgent Care now offers the latest advancements in concussion testing and management services including baseline testing, concussion diagnosis and return to play and return to lean programs.
A baseline test allows doctors to assess neurological function, balance, and more before an injury occurs. If an injury does happen, doctors can compare and contrast the baseline results to see how extensive the injury is.
Dr. Scott Burger says every student athlete regardless of sport should have the baseline testing done. Children 9-12 should have a new test done every year, while teens can have the testing every other year.
Concussion baseline exams are offered at ChoiceOne locations in Dundalk, Phoenix, Rotunda, and Severna Park. Exams are $75, but Midday Maryland viewers can mention the segment and have the exam for $25.
