Baltimore County Police are investigating a fatal car crash that happened Saturday morning.
At about 11:30 a.m., Baltimore County Police officers were called to E. Joppa Road, at Silver Spring Road, because a car had hit a tree. The driver, who was still in the car, was found, but was in cardiac arrest. The driver, 51-year-old Kevin Spaugh, of Bernadotte Court in Parkville, was immediately taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The preliminary investigation revealed that a blue 2014 Kia Sedona minivan was traveling westbound on E. Joppa Road, toward the intersection of Silver Spring Road. The Sedona then drove, for an unknown reason, across the intersection, into the eastbound lanes and eventually struck a large tree.
Baltimore County Crash Team will continue to investigate.
