University of Maryland Medical System confirms first coronavirus patient

The University of Maryland Medical System has confirmed their first coronavirus patient.

In a statement released by officials, the patient was appropriately screened and handled – in following the protocols and guidance issued by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Maryland Department of Health.

The patient received treatment in isolation, after testing positive.

The hospital remains open to provide care for other patients and is operating under normal circumstances.

This comes after Maryland Governor Larry Hogan announced two addition confirmed cases in the state.

According to Governor Hogan, has five total confirmed cases, and 62 negative tests for COVID-19.
