MIDDLE RIVER, Md. — “She calls me angel, and I call her the grandma I never had.”

After Donna Jean’s mom died, DJ stepped in becoming Lillian’s best friend. That meant going to the grocery story...after all Lillian was 90.

“So I said, sure, I mean how long will she live?”

Lillian will be 102 years old on Saturday.

She was born during the Spanish Flu and now she is outliving COVID-19. Every week since she was 90, Donna Jean goes to the grocery store and brings her food to Woodlands Assisted Living in Middle River.

Lillian used to live in Towson, until breaking her hip in Ocean City. Donna Jean will pick up flowers, fruit and some Party Mix, she has to go to the front entrance and leaves the food for her friend and then waves through the window.

On Saturday, Donna Jean who works for The Bay 100.7 will be celebrating 102 with Lillian.
