After seeing the devastating destruction from the tornado that tore through Kent Island early Monday morning. You may be wondering what exactly the EF rating means. The Kent Island tornado was ranked as a EF-2 tornado.

EF-2 tornadoes have peak winds of 111-135 mph. The Kent Island tornado had estimated winds of 125mph.

Ef-2 tornadoes have 'severe' damage. Entire stories of well constructed homes destroyed, significant damage done to large buildings, homes with weak foundations can be blown away, trees begin to lose their bark.

This was the first tornado in Queen Anne's county since June 1, 2012.
