Friday & Saturday's Winter Storm

Posted
and last updated

Here are some of the things we know about this snow storm for the weekend.

Snow potential: 10" to 20" of snow will be possible with this system. The lower totals will be for Southern and Eastern Maryland. **A snowfall forecast map will be released and updated after the system makes landfall and our weather balloons can get a better grip on the system.**

The Wind: will be the bigger story. Winds from this system are amazing to say the least. It's an impressive wind field, with the storm deepening near Maryland. This will lead to very gusty winds ranging from 30 - 50 mph, and near 65+ along the beaches. We believe beach erosion will be possible.

Snow Grade: The snow is expected to be the heavy/wet packing snow. This will be a real challenge to drive in (even for winter tires on AWD cars & trucks.) The good news is that our temps will be within range of effective salt use for the roads.

I'll keep updates on Facebook & Twitter all week.
