According to the latest drought monitor, 73% of the state is in drought. 34% of that is considered in 'moderate drought.'
The month of February has been quite dry. BWI has only received 0.46" of rain, a 1.29" departure from normal. In fact, the last five months have all featured below normal rainfall.
The lack of snow we've had in Maryland doesn't help the situation. So far this season, BWI has only picked up 0.7" of snow. For a normal winter, BWI would see close to 20 inches of powder.
There are very few chances of precipitation the next 7 days. A few sprinkles are possible early Sunday morning. And again, a few showers are possible Wednesday. Nether event looks to be significant enough to help in the drought situation across the state. Stay tuned!
