Triple digit heat is possible this weekend.

The last time Maryland had temps in the 100s was four years ago in 2012. This weekend, we'll have an opportunity to reach the century mark again.

A large ridge and area of high pressure is developing over the the Central Plains & Midwest this week. This setup is creating some impressive heat in those areas where several locations are under an excessive heat warning due to heat indices near 110°+.

Eventually, this pattern will shift east, bringing some of this excessive heat in our direction for the weekend and beyond.

At this point a Code Red appears likely for the weekend - possibly extending into next week
