Another 90 degree day in the books for Baltimore making this the 2nd day so far this June and 6th overall for 2019. So far so good in a sense of missing the big heat but not the humidity that signifies Summer is near. Summer officially takes center stage Friday morning at 11:54am.

The precise timing stems from the moment when the sun appears directly over the Tropic of Cancer (23.5 N Latitude) aka the (Summer Solstice). This signifies our longest day of the year with the most daylight at 14 hours, 56 minutes, and 19 seconds. The opposite can be said in the Southern Hemisphere where they enter the coldest time of the year with the Winter Solstice.

Even though the "Summer Solstice" is the longest day of the year our latest sunsets come after it. From June 26th through June 30th where the sunset time is 8:37pm. After that time starts to move the other way. By the time we hit late August we are down to 13 hours of daylight before we fall to about 12 hours for the first day of Fall in late September.

Why look ahead though as Summer is just beginning. Let's focus on the now with family trips to the beach, boating on the bay, enjoying a nice festival or fair, and even a little grilling out. Tis the season of heat, humidity, fun, laughter, and a safe Summer ahead. P.S I hear this weekend looks fantastic!!!!!
