We round out 2019 like a lamb and start the new decade 2020 on a similar note. The rain showers and mild conditions of yesterday have since went away while cooler air drains in from the northwest. We are even looking at a chance of much needed snow for the ski resorts in the mountains of Maryland, West Virginia, and Pennsylvania before the ball drops to 2020.

The chill will be noticeable later today especially after high temps punched into the low 60s this past Monday afternoon (December 30th). Winds will also pick up gusting 15-20 mph providing us with an extra wind chill for those New Year's revelers later today.

Weather overall though does not look to be a factor for activities around the region. Sunshine will rule the skies on final day of 2019 with a slow break in cloud coverage. Clouds clear for fireworks tonight with lows right at about 40 degrees before the clock strikes midnight here in Baltimore. Whether you are headed to the Maryland Crab Drop in Easton, the Duck Drop in Havre de Grace, the Frederick Key Drop, or Krumpes Donut Drop in Hagerstown you'll wanna carry a jacket. Temperatures will get colder after midnight as winds relax a bit and skies clear even more.

More breezy conditions are likely New Year's Day with highs in the 40s underneath sunny skies. If we look back to New Year's Day past this puts us in the middle of the back from 2019 where highs touched 61 degrees with rain and 2018 where we were subjected to record cold. Usually the average this time of year is 42 degrees so we are slightly above.

So let's be thankful it's neither too hot nor too cold. It's also not snowing or raining for change making for an excellent time to celebrate new beginnings outdoors. Please stay safe and most of all have a great 2020 ahead!!!
