Federal Hill packed with people sledding

Posted

With sunny skies Sunday, it was the perfect chance to get outside and enjoy the snow dumped on the city.  Folks bundled up and headed to federal hill.

"Oh yeah, Fed Hill is known for being the place to go sledding,” said Jenny Reid.  “As you can see, it's really crowded so we're just hoping we don't hit anyone."

There were sleds and tubes, even a baby pool being used to ride down the snow covered hill.  People spent hours building ramps, and then hours trying to hit them.

"It's been really rough all the way down and I'm trying to get some air, so it's really fun," 15-year-old Levi Witcher said.

People watched and cheered, even if everyone didn't stick the landing.

"It's just brilliant, don't have to drive to go to the resorts, just enjoying it," Francois-Guillaume Lejars said.

It’s a quick, fun ride down.

"Oh my gosh, crazy, really fast, and it's kinda packed in so very slick," said Reid.

But you also have to hoof-it back to the top.

"It's gonna be a long walk back up,” Maureen Cassady said.  “So we're gonna take our time."

The hill was packed for most of the day, a prime spot in the middle of the city.  Everyone just having a good time and enjoying their Sunday snow day.

"It's been fantastic,” Reid said.  “We were looking forward to the blizzard, and kind of being kids again."
