The Coast Guard rescued two stranded kayakers Saturday in Chesapeake Bay off Oyster Point in Portsmouth, Virginia.

Coast Guards were dispatched at approximately 7:55 p.m. for two male kayakers that were stranded about six miles south of Oyster Point.

The Coast Guard arrived at the scene at 11:15 p.m. and located the kayakers because one was wearing a head lamp.

The kayakers were escorted back to Oyster Point by 1:19 a.m.

"It's good for people to know the area and know their surroundings before going out," said Petty Officer 2nd Class Luis Arroyo. "Always have a back-up plan to get home."
