(WMAR) — The Maryland Department of Transportation will be closing lanes on the MD 4 bridge over the Patuxent River to the Thomas Johnson Bridge for a week-long night time inspection.

MDOT says crews will close one lane and direct traffic every evening from Monday, Aug. 5 through Thursday, Aug. 8, from 9 p.m. until 5 a.m.

They say portable variable message signs have been placed along area state routes to make travelers aware of the lane closure. Drivers are urged to plan extra travel time to cross the bridge.

The inspection will be performed by MDOT SHA contractor AECOM.
