Update: Rt. 140 has reopened.
Baltimore County Police have closed down Route 140 in Baltimore County Thursday afternoon ahead of rush hour after two accidents occurred involving multiple vehicles.
Police say Rt. 140 is closed in both directions between Old Westminster Pike and Brian Daniel Ct and Glen Falls Rd is closed at Rt. 140.
The first accident occurred around 11:42 a.m. which involved multiple cars. Police had shut down part of 140 and were still investigating when a second crash occurred at 1:45 p.m. on the other side of the highway.
According to police, at least two people were transported to hospitals; their injuries are not expected to be life-threatening.
Drivers should take alternate routes home.
