Instead of taking your Christmas tree to the dumpster or recycling facility, donate it to the birds.

The Department of Natural Resources says the trees make good habitats for birds. Six Maryland State Parks help house birds that are hurt or can't be released back into the wild. Many of them like to build nests in used trees.

Trees are being accepted at all Maryland state parks. Rangers ask that you make sure you take off all decorations, including tinsel, before dropping off your tree.
