The Calvert Hall Cardinals topped the Loyola Dons 40-21 in the 97th Brooks Financial Group Turkey Bowl.

The Thanksgiving Day game is always hard-fought and this year was no exception. The Cardinals had a strong start, stacking up an early lead.

Loyola answered before the end of the first half and continued to put points on the board in the second half, but it wasn't enough to surpass the Cardinals.

It's the third year in a row that the Cardinals have won the Turkey Bowl.

The game was particularly emotional for Dons head coach Brant Hall who coached in his last Turkey Bowl.

"Still hasn't hit me. It'll sink in at some point," Hall said. "I'm disappointed. I would have liked to go out with a win.  I really would've liked to get this for our seniors."

Thursday's matchup was the highest scoring Turkey Bowl since 2009. The Cardinals have now topped the Dons seven of the last eight years.
