BALTIMORE — Westbound on Northern, you'll pass Sinai. Then you see win, place, and show on your left. And Win Family Services on your right. Al Laws runs Win. This place does everything right in Baltimore.

They run a foster care program. They build families. They break the curse of addiction. They make Baltimore better.

Every third Saturday in May, they allow people to park on their lawn for the Preakness, which has turned into a major fundraiser. They use the money to have a great big party for those in Park Heights around Christmas time.

Al is afraid if the horse trot south to Laurel Race Track, then his community will really be forgotten.

He has heard all the ideas but he likes his the best. He wants to build a training facility where you learn how to be a carpenter or a plumber. You can then take this trade to the streets and cure abandoned boarded up homes.

But for this Saturday, park on his lawn for $40.
