Baseball great Cal Ripken Jr. has been selected as the sports marshal for the 89th Shenandoah Apple Blossom Festival in Virginia.
A member of the Baseball Hall of Fame, Ripken's selection was announced Friday in Winchester.
The Winchester Star reports that the Shenandoah Apple Blossom Festival runs from April 22 to May 1. Ripken will be the featured speaker at sports breakfast on April 30 and will ride in a parade.
The 55-year-old Ripken spent his entire career with the Baltimore Orioles.
Entertainer Wayne Brady will be the grand marshal of the festival.
