Tuesday night's game between the Toronto Blue Jays and Baltimore Orioles has been postponed by rain.
The game will be made up as part of a single-admission doubleheader on Wednesday, starting at 4 p.m. ET.
Toronto entered play Tuesday with a magic number of two to clinch its first AL East title since 1993. Any combination of victories by the Blue Jays or losses by the Yankees totaling two will eliminate New York, the lone remaining team with a mathematical chance of overtaking Toronto in the division.
The postponement means Toronto will have to keep the champagne on ice at least for one more day.
Baltimore, the defending AL East champion, was formally eliminated from playoff contention Monday night.
Fans with tickets for tonight's game will need to exchange their tickets to attend tomorrow's doubleheader. Only tickets for tomorrow's game marked September 30 will be valid for both games of the doubleheader.
