MILLERSVILLE, Md. — A Severna Park church sustained roughly $125,000 from a fire caused by its heating system, The Anne Arundel County Fire Department said.
Firefighters responded to a building fire at the Severna Park Church of God, 233 Ritchie Highway, at about 7:56 a.m. Wednesday, the fire department said. Arriving personnel found smoke coming from the church’s roof and flames coming from a side door. The fire was extinguished in about 10 minutes.
The Anne Arundel County Fire and Explosives Investigation Unit determined the blaze was accidental, being caused by the oil-fueled heating unit in the church’s crawl space. Investigators assessed the damage at about $125,000. No one was injured.
