BALTIMORE — Shoppers at Canton Crossing won't be getting their summer treat on time this year due to the recent ransomware attack on the city's software.

That's because the Rita's Italian Ice store located in that area hasn't been able to open their doors for about a month because of one missing piece of documentation.

The owners of the store told WMAR-2 News that with the recent ransomware on the city's computer system, they are still waiting to get their use and occupancy permit so they can open up shop.

City leaders are hoping the FBI can help battle the malware. Officials say the fix can take up to weeks to get the city operational again.
