A Virginia woman was arrested after she stole a charter bus and led police on a chase in Maryland.
Police said Mellat Zerihun Kassa, 24, was arrested near the Tydings Memorial Bridge Tuesday.
Kassa was an employee of a Virginia-based bus company, but for unknown reasons decided to ignore her route, not pick up passengers and drive through Maryland. The company was tracking the bus using GPS and told Maryland State Police Kassa may be in distress.
Troopers located the bus on I-95 North in Harford County and activated sirens in an attempt to make a traffic stop.
Police followed Kassa as she weaved through traffic on 95 North until she came to a stop at the toll plaza for the Tydings Memorial Bridge. Troopers ordered her out of the bus and she complied.
Kassa was arrested without incident. She is being held without bond at the Harford County Detention Center.
