A natural phenomenon caused a salt lake in Melbourne to turn pink.
Parks Victoria posted pictures of the Lake. High salt levels, high temperatures, and lack of rainfall all contribute to the vibrant hue. Algae growing at the bottom of the lake produces a red pigment in response to the high salt levels.
As beautiful as it may be, park officials warn that people shouldn't come into contact with the water.
