FORT CAMPBELL, Ky. (AP) - Fort Campbell has identified a 101st Airborne Division soldier who died of injuries suffered during a live-fire training exercise at Fort Polk, Louisiana.
In a news release, officials from the post on the Kentucky-Tennessee border where the 101st is based said the soldier killed Tuesday was 19-year-old Pfc. Victor J. Stanfill. He was an infantryman with Company A, 2nd Battalion, 506th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team.
Stanfill was a native of Fulton, Maryland, and enlisted in the Army last September.
The news release said investigators from the Army Combat Readiness Center at Fort Rucker, Alabama, are leading the investigation of Stanfill's death.
