What started out as a horror story, now has the perfect Christmas ending.
It all started with a dog from Kansas, found here in Maryland. Zimba is a pit bull from Wichita, Kansas, and was brought to Maryland by his owner's boyfriend for a visit. While he was here, the two broke up and the man abandoned Zimba.
The dog was found and taken to the Caroline County Humane Society where they found his microchip.
After calling his owner, who couldn't make the 1,300-mile trip, the next dilemma was how to get Zimba home.
That's when Zach stepped in, volunteering to take a cross-country journey with Zimba. The duo finished the drive Wednesday night where Zimba was reunited with his family.
The story is now going viral, with tons of people donating money for Zach's trip and even paying for his room Wednesday night to get some shut-eye before his journey back.
