COLUMBIA, Md. — WMAR-2 News is committed to improving the lives of Veterans in Maryland by shining light to their stories, struggles and triumphs. Every week a local veteran will be featured in our Veteran Spotlight contest.

This week's nominee is Gerald Greenfield of Columbia.

Greenfield served the United States Army during World War II, The Korean War and The Vietnam War. He retired as a Lieutenant Colonel after 31 years of service and his son, Damon, says that he's the kindest, most honest guy he knows.

He also has a very special birthday coming up. On April 25, Greenfield will be turning 100 years old.

Unfortunately, his big party was cancelled due to the coronavirus, but he looks forward celebrating at home with his family.
