VIDEO: WMAR TV weather anchor describes station barricade

As an armed suspect was holed up inside WMAR on Tuesday, one of the station's weather anchors spoke out about his experiences on our sister station, KNXV in Phoenix.

Meteorologist Mike Masco said the suspect first tried to unsuccessfully get into the building through the lobby, banging on the door and saying he was God and needed to be let in.

When security crews wouldn't let him in, Masco said people in the newsroom started talking about whether or not they need to evacuate or get authorities involved.

After they called police, Masco said a giant industrial truck slammed right into the front of the building. He said the truck hit the building once, and then backed up and did it again 5 times until busting through the security window.

Masco said he believes all employees have been able to get out of the building, and that as of right now, all the employees have been relocated to a church.

"We're in a peculiar situation because...we have a 5pm newscast that we're never going to be able to get on  air because of where [the suspect] is barricaded...along the access point to master control."

Instead of bringing in their evening news team, Masco said they are telling people to stay away right now.

Masco said there's a negotiator on scene trying to understand the situation and talk out the suspect.
