Thousands of runners hit the pavement Thursday for a good cause.
The Y of Central Maryland's Turkey Trot Charity 5k begins at 8:30 a.m.
There's 7 races across several counties.
Proceeds from the races benefit families whose children can't afford educational and enrichment opportunities such as Y preschool and camps.
