Woman dies when car strikes tree in Prince George's County

A Suitland woman died after the car she was driving crashed into a tree in Hillcrest Heights in Prince George's County, United States Park Police said.

The accident occurred in Hillcrest Heights at about 7:19 a.m. Friday. Officers were sent to the area of Suitland Parkway prior to Branch Avenue for the reported crash. Responding units found a vehicle that had crashed into a tree.

The driver of the car, a Suitland woman in her late twenties, was pronounced dead at the scene. Park Police said just one car was involved in the crash, and speed and environmental conditions may have been factors. The accident is being investigated by the U.S. Park Police Criminal Investigation Division and Traffic Safety Unit.
