Two vehicle crash in Mt. Airy leaves one dead

Maryland State Police of the Frederick Barrack are investigating a two vehicle crash that has left one dead.

Troopers were called to Route 27 southbound around 8:37 p.m. Saturday just north of Route 144 in Frederick County for a reported crash.

Investigations revealed the driver of a Harley Davidson was driving southbound at a high rate of speed, when it loss control and struck the rear of a Nissan Rogue.

As a result of the crash, the driver was ejected from the vehicle and sustained major trauma. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.

The victim has not been identified in this incident.

Southbound Route 27 remained closed for approximately four hours.

This incident is still under investigation.
