UPPER MARLBORO, Md. — A man is dead and a woman is injured after they were hit by a car only moments after getting off a metro bus.

The crash happened Monday night around 6:30 p.m. in the 200 block of Campus Way in Upper Marlboro. Officials say 25-year-old Juanuta Ebony Reed and 27-year-old Tevin Jamal Bailey had just gotten off a metro bus at a bus stop and were crossing MD 202 in the crosswalk when they were hit by an oncoming car.

The driver, 25-year-old Jasmine Nicole Jones, stayed on the scene and police say there is no indication of impairment being a factor in this crash.

Both Reed and Bailey were taken by ambulance to a hospital where Bailey died. Reed is still being treated for her injuries.

All Northbound MD 202 lanes in the area were closed for three hours while officials were investigating. Troopers consulted Monday night with the Prince George’s County State’s Attorney’s Office, who will decide on whether to pursue any charges once the state police’s investigation is completed.

At this time, the crash still remains under investigation.
