At least three people were hurt, one seriously, when a porch roof collapsed in Frostburg Saturday night.
Frostburg police were already at the scene of a large party across the street when the collapse happened around 7 p.m. at 144 Wood Street. Law enforcement from Frostburg City, Frostburg State University, Maryland State Police and Allegany County Sheriff's Office were dispatched due to the large number of students at the scene. Police said the party numbered between 200-250 people.
Frostburg City Police Chief Royce Douty described a chaotic scene when the collapse occurred. Screams are heard on a video posted on social media that shows several people sitting on the roof who suddenly disappear from view as it collapses.
Frostburg firefighters and two units from Frostburg Area Ambulance Service as well as other medic units from the area were dispatched to the scene by the Allegany County 911 Center. Several people were treated at the scene for minor injuries.
The injured were transported to Western Maryland Regional Medical Center.
