Suspect arrested on drug charges dies from possibly ingesting cocaine

A man died early Sunday after being arrested on felony drug charges, according to Ocean City Police.

Jerry L. Weston, 37, showed signs of physical distress during his processing at the Ocean City Police Station, where emergency care was provided.

Investigators learned Weston told caretakers he ingested cocaine. He was pronounced dead shortly after 3:30 a.m.

Weston was arrested with two others, Etoyi J. Roach, 40, and Ryan L. Steck, 35, of Berlin, MD.

Weston's body has been taken to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore.  An autopsy is scheduled for Monday to determine the cause and manner of death.
 
Maryland State Police investigators are interviewing police and medical personnel involved with the arrest, transport and medical treatment of  Weston.
 
Police have not released a picture of Weston at this time.
