We may not be ready for winter, but state officials say they are.

Pre-treating, pre-wetting salt to make it stick better and other techniques will be used again this season. State Highway officials will keep real time track of the highways with an app called the "Storm App".

"New yellow arrows show the actual direction of the snow fighting vehicles. This replaces the previous dots. It now has air temperature display as well as green dots showing the actual condition if the pavement," said Greg Slater, MDOT SHA Administrator. "So you will be able to look at this app now and see where our weather equipment is."

93 rock salt facilities are spread around the state, loaded with 387,000 tons of salt ready for our roads.
