A Sharpsburg, Md. man has been arrested and charged with starting two fires, a Deputy State Fire Marshal said.

Christopher Link Morgan was charged with arson first degree, malicious burning second degree, and threat of arson. He he was brought to the Washington County Detention Center.

At 12:48 p.m. Wednesday, the Office of the State Fire Marshal was sent to the 18000 block of Mt. Lock Canal Road in Sharpsburg to investigate a possible arson threat to a homeowner. Upon arrival fire officals found Morgan circling the dwelling, where he lived, with a hatchet as a campfire burned in the side yard. Morgan was ordered to drop his hatchet and complied.

Fire officials found that Morgan had set two fires inside the dwelling, in the living room and dining room. Both were extinguished before fire personnel arrived. Morgan threatened arson because he was angry at his brother for touching his lawnmower, fire officials said.
