Crews have suspended for the night a search for a boater who reportedly went overboard on the Chesapeake Bay.

Maryland Natural Resources Police believe the incident happened between Kent Island and Herrington Harbor South.

The boater was not equipped with a life jacket and was last seen wearing blue shorts and a dark shirt. He is described as 6 feet tall and 180-190 pounds.

According to the U.S. Coast Guard, the owner of a 40-foot cabin cruiser set sail with his friend. During their excursion, the friend went below deck. After not reappearing for an hour, the owner searched the boat and realized his friend had likely fallen overboard.

Multiple crews from different agencies are expected to resume an air and sea search Thursday morning.
