Sean Urbanski guilty of first degree murder for killing Lt. Richard Collins at UMD

UPPER MARLBORO, Md. — Prince George's County State's Attorney said a man was found guilty Wednesday for killing a Bowie State University student.

According to the county's top prosecutor, 24-year-old Sean Urbanski is guilty of first degree murder for stabbing 22-year-old Lt. Richard Collins, III in 2017, while at the University of Maryland Campus.

The murder happened while Lt. Collins was at a bus stop on the university's campus when Urbanski approached him and said “Step left. Step left if you know what’s best for you.”

Lt. Collins to him no, then Urbanski stabbed Lt. Collins in his chest.

"This was an ugly and unprovoked attack fueled by hate," said Prince George’s County State’s Attorney Aisha Braveboy.

Urbanski's sentencing is scheduled for April 16, 2020.
