BALTIMORE (AP) - A Prince George's County Police officer has been indicted on charges of taking inappropriate pictures of unsuspecting women during traffic stops and while off duty.
John Erzen II is a spokesman for the county State's Attorney's Office. He said at a news conference Thursday that 30-year-old James Sims, a 6-year veteran of the department, was indicted on charges of visual surveillance with prurient intent and misconduct in office.
Erzen says Sims took "upskirt" photos of two women he had pulled over on traffic stops.
Police say on June 1, an off-duty police officer from another jurisdiction saw Sims taking upskirt pictures of her in a store in Bowie. Officials say she confronted Sims and called police.
Sims is suspended with pay. A phone number could not be found for him.
