A new phone scam threatening arrest is causing concern among citizens.
Residents in Frederick are receiving phone calls from a person fraudulently claiming to be a member of Frederick County law enforcement.
The caller falsely states having an arrest warrant for the victim, that can only be expunged by paying a fine.
In these instances, the caller instructs the recipient to purchase a Green Dot card valued at a certain amount of money. Once obtained, the scammer demands the number on the card and in turn electronically withdrawals all money from the card.
