IJAMSVILLE, Md. (AP) - One Maryland county is turning overdose prevention into community event.
The Frederick County State's Attorney's Office is the lead sponsor of the candlelight vigil Thursday night at an Ijamsville church.
The agency says in a statement that the sheriff's office, the county health department and the Frederick Rescue Mission area also participating.
Coordinator Jess Nunemaker says the event combines education and remembrance. It features a slideshow of those who have died from drug overdoses.
Nunemaker says the only way to beat the rise in opioid addiction to fight it together.
