CLEAR SPRING, Md. — The State Fire Marshal's Western Regional Office is currently investigating a fatal fire that happened on Sunday in Washington County.

At around 11:30 p.m., the Clear Spring Volunteer Fire Company arrived to a mobile home fire at 13102 Goldizen Lane.

A female occupant awoke to the smoke alarm, saw the flames and safely evacuated the home. A male occupant, however, was injured in his attempt to extinguish the fire and was taken to The Burn Center at MedStar Washington Hospital Center.

After 45 minutes, nearly 60 firefighters were able to extinguish the blaze. After putting out the fire, a second male occupant was found dead in the rear bedroom.

The identities of those individuals will not be released until the investigation has been concluded.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation, but officials say that the fire started in the kitchen and that the total damage of the mobile home is estimated to be about $125,000.
