A fire that heavily damaged an oceanfront condominium building in Ocean City has been ruled accidental.
The Ocean City Fire Marshal's Office determined that the fire started in an open parking area on the ground floor of the Pelican Beach condominiums on Wednesday morning.
Fire officials said in a news release that the fire quickly engulfed a pickup truck that was carrying a running generator and spread to the ceiling.
Ocean City Fire Marshal David Hartley says only part of the building was badly burned, with the fire entering just one unit.
The five-story building was unoccupied at the time of the fire. The 28-unit building has been rendered uninhabitable as a result of the damage.
