A state police helicopter crew rescued a critically injured teen who fell into a crevasse in the Catoctin Mountain National Park.
Police say the crew arrived at the rugged remote area of the park at roughly 2:15 p.m. Friday and was assisted by emergency personnel who hiked roughly two miles to access the teen. Police say the flight crew was also assisted by the National Park Service, Frederick County Fire Department and the Frederick County Advanced Technical Rescue Team.
Police say the teen suffered traumatic injuries due to the fall and was flown to Children's National Medical Center in Washington for treatment.
